Privacy Policy — Excuse Tracker

This Privacy Policy explains how Digital Refugees ("we," "us") handles information in the Excuse Tracker mobile app ("the App"). We built the App to collect as little as possible. We do not require an account, and we do not sell your personal information.

1. Information the App handles

The App is designed to work largely on your device. The information involved falls into three groups:

• Excuses and notes you create. The excuses generated in the App, the context/type you select, timestamps, and any optional note you add are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage. This data is not uploaded to us or synced to any server we control.
• Excuse-generation requests. When AI generation is enabled, the App sends the selected context and type (for example, "running late — work") to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate excuse text. These requests do not include your name, contacts, location, or device identifiers.
• Advertising and diagnostic data. The App shows ads through Google AdMob and measures them through RevenueCat. To do this, the advertising components may process limited technical data such as a coarse region, device type, and non-identifying ad interaction events (impressions, clicks). See "Advertising" below.

2. Advertising

The App is free and supported by ads. We serve non-personalized (contextual) ads only. This means:

• We do not ask to track you across other apps and websites, and we do not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for tracking. You will not see Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
• Ads are provided by Google AdMob and are selected based on general, non-personal signals (such as coarse region and app context) rather than a profile of you.
• RevenueCat is used to measure ad performance (for example, impressions and revenue) on our behalf.
• For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we present a consent message using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time from the App's privacy settings.

3. How we use information

We use the information above only to: run the core feature of the App (generating and tracking excuses), display and measure ads so the App can remain free, and keep the App working correctly. We do not use it to build advertising profiles of you.

4. Third-party services

The App relies on the following providers, each of which has its own privacy policy:

• Google AdMob / Google — policies.google.com/privacy
• RevenueCat — revenuecat.com/privacy
• Anthropic (AI excuse generation) — anthropic.com/legal/privacy

5. Data storage and retention

Your excuses and notes remain on your device until you delete them or remove the App. Because this data is stored locally, deleting the App removes it. Advertising and diagnostic data is retained by the relevant provider according to their own policies.

6. Your choices and rights

You can review or delete your saved excuses at any time within the App, and you can reset your ad consent choices from the App's privacy settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR (EEA/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California), including the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below.

7. Children

The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where the applicable digital age of consent is higher (as it is in some European countries), users below that age are served non-personalized ads only.

8. International users

If you use the App outside the country where our providers operate, your information may be processed in other countries. We rely on our providers' safeguards for any such transfers.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
